with the company, the transition to company service would be “seamless,” designed for minimum or no disruption to the customer; and, WHEREAS, the contract as proposed would cost the City $8.50 per month per residential unit served, with an annual increase based on the Consumer Price Index; and, WHEREAS, under the contract as proposed the company would purchase the City trash hauling vehicles for $159,000.00 and the company would, subject to reasonable background checks, assimilate the City’s affected employees into the company’s workforce; and, WHEREAS, the service provided would mirror and in some instances improve on the City’s current service, providing each customer twice a week garbage service, with a maximum of ten (10) bags per pickup, plus one bulky pickup item per week; and, WHEREAS, in addition to the basic service, the company would afford the City the opportunity to dispose of up to 150 tons of residential home demolition waste annually in company’s landfill without charge; and, WHEREAS, the City Council finds and determines that the proposed contract is in the best interest of the City of Paris and advances the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of the City of Paris; and, WHEREAS, as a consequence of said contracted services, various amendments to the NOW, THEREFORE, City’s Code of Ordinances are required for consistency; BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this ordinance are hereby in all things approved. Section 2. That Article II, entitled Regulation of the Collection of Solid Waste, of Chapter 16 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paris, Texas, entitled Garbage and other Solid Waste Material, at Section 16-21 (b), shall be and is hereby in all things amended to read as follows: “CHAPTER 16 Garbage and other Waste Material * * * “ARTICLE II Regulation of the Collection of Solid Waste * * *
