<br />DRAFT <br /> <br />F:ATTORNEY\RESWORK\CURRENT\ 2006 Innovations in American Government Award Application Res <br />July 18,2005 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />A RESO L UTI 0 N OF THE CITY CO UN CIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />PARIS, TEXAS, APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF AN <br />APPLICATION WITH THE COUNCIL FOR EXCELLENCE IN <br />GOVERNMENT, UNDER THE AUSPICES OF THE INNOVATIONS IN <br />AMERICAN GOVERNMENT AWARDS PROGRAM TO PROPOSE THE <br />CITY'S HOMESTEAD PROGRAM AS AN ELIGIBLE RECIPIENT FOR A <br />2006 INNOVATIONS IN AMERICAN GOVERNMENT AWARD; MAKING <br />OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Council for Excellence in Government, by and through the Harvard <br />University JohnF. Kennedy School of Government, annually sponsors the Innovations in American <br />Government A wards Program which annually offers six $100,000.00 grants to recognize creative <br />and effective government initiatives; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the aforesaid Council for Excellence in Government has again announced that <br />applications are being received for such program; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the program is highly competitive, annually receiving more than one thousand <br />applicants from which eighteen applicants are selected for final recognition, with six receiving the <br />actual $100,000.00 cash awards; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, because a prerequisite to applying for the grant is that the applicant program <br />must have been implemented for a minimum of twelve months prior to submission of an application; <br />N OW, THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things <br />approved. <br /> <br />Section 2. That an application be filed on behalf of the City of Paris presenting the City's <br />Homestead Program as a participant in the 2006 Innovations in American Governments Award <br />Program sponsored by The Council For Excellence in Government, Harvard University John F. <br />Kennedy School of Government. <br /> <br />Section 3.
