ORDINANCE NO. 98-066 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A MAXIMUM, REASONABLE, AND PRUDENT RATE OF SPEED IN THE AREA OF PUBLIC SCHOOLS ON CERTAIN PORTIONS OF CERTAIN STREETS AND HIGHWAYS AND PUBLIC PLACES IN THE CITY OF PARIS; PROVIDING FOR A FINE NOT TO EXCEED $200.00; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF DECEMBER 1, 1998. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS: Section 1. That the following maximum, reasonable, and prudent rate of speed be, and the same is hereby, established in the area of public schools on those portions of the street hereinafter described: T. G. GIVENS KINDERGARTEN: On 6th Street N.E. beginning 200 feet south of the South Curb Line of Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, north to the South Curb Line of Williams Street, a speed limit of twenty (20) miles per hour will be effective on school days during the following hours: 7:15 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. 2:00 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. Section 2. Any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be guilty of a Misdemeanor, and, upon conviction, shall be fined in any sum not to exceed $200.00. Section 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby expressly repealed. Section 4. This ordinance shall become effective on December 1, 1998.
