<br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, PROVIDING THAT THE
<br /> CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF PARIS, BE AMENDED BY REVI5ING CHAPTER
<br /> 11, ARTICLE I, SECTION 11-5; PROVIDING FOR CHANGING THE REFERENCE
<br /> THEREIN FROM DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT TO CHIEF
<br /> BUILDING OFFICIAL; PROVIDING FOR THE REVISION OF CHAPTER 11, ARTICLE
<br /> IV, SECTIONS 11-91 AND 11-92 OF SAID CODE; PROVIDING FOR ADOPTION OF
<br /> THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE, 1993 EDITION; PROVIDING FOR
<br /> DELETIONS, MODIFICATIONS AND AMENDMENTS TO SAID CODE; PROVIDING
<br /> FOR THE REPEAL OF CHAPTER 11, ARTICLE IV, SECTIONS 11-95, 11-99, 11-102
<br /> AND 11-110 OF SAID CODE AND DECLARING THE SAME TO BE NULL AND VOID
<br /> AND OF NO EFFECT; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY NOT TO EXCEED $2,000.00;
<br /> REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT
<br /> HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF MARCH 1, 1996.

<br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS:
<br />
<br /> 5ection 1. That Chapter 11, Article I, Section 11-5 of the Code of Ordinances of the
<br /> City of Paris, Paris, Texas, be, and the same is hereby, amended so that such shall read as
<br /> follows:
<br />
<br /> "Sec. 11-5. Office of electrical inspector created; qualifications, appointment
<br /> and general duties of electrical inspector.
<br /> "There is hereby created the office of electrical inspector. The person chosen
<br />
<br /> to fill this office shall have had at least six (6) years' experience as an electrician,
<br /> be a graduate of an approved school of electrical engineering, or be a licensed
<br /> electrical engineer with two (2) years' experience in the field of electrical
<br /> engineering. He shall be appointed by the City Manager and shall perfortn the
<br /> duties imposed upon him by this chapter under the supervision and direction of
<br /> the Chief Building Official. "
<br /> Section 2. That Chapter 11, Article IV, Sections 11-91 and 11-92 of the Code of
<br />
<br /> Ordinances of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, be, and the same are hereby, amended so that
<br /> such shall read as follows:
<br /> "Sec. 11-91. National Electrical Code - Adoption.
<br />
<br /> "For the purpose of practical safeguarding of persons and of buildings and their
<br /> contents from hazards arising from the use of electricity for light, heat, power,
<br /> radio, signalling and for other purposes, that certain electrical code known as the
<br /> National Electrical Code, 1993 Edition, published by the National Fire Protection
<br /> Association, save and except such portions as are deleted, modified or amended
<br /> by this article, is hereby adopted as the minimum standards for the City, and the
<br /> same is hereby incorporated as fully as if set out at length herein. A copy of
<br /> such Code has been and is now on file in the office of the City Clerk, and the
<br /> provisions thereof shall be controlling in the installation of all electrical wiring,
<br /> devices and equipment within the corporate limits of the City.
<br />
<br /> "Sec. 11-92. National Electrical Code - Amendments.
<br />
<br /> "The Code adopted in Section 11-91 is hereby amended as set out in this
<br /> section:

<br /> "`Section 210-70(a), Dwelling Unit(s), is hereby amended by deleting the words
<br /> "underfloor space" from the second paragraph.
<br />
