<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> made for the hire, rental or lease of such premises for at least one (1) month in <br /> or upon which such business is to be operated or conducted. <br /> <br /> "Sec.24-2. Exceptions. <br /> <br /> "(a) The provisions of this Article shall not apply to the following: <br /> <br /> "(1) Public utility companies or others operating under <br /> franchises granted by the City, nor to insurance salesmen, real <br /> estate salesmen and others licensed by the State; <br /> <br /> "(2) The sale or soliciting of orders for the sale of milk or dairy <br /> products, bakery products, vegetables, poultry, eggs and other <br /> farm and garden products insofar as the sale of such commodities <br /> are authorized by law; <br /> <br /> "(3) Ordinary commercial travelers who sell or exhibit for sale <br /> goods or merchandise to parties engaged in the business of buying <br /> and selling and dealing in such goods or merchandise; <br /> <br /> "(4) Persons involved in interstate commerce; <br /> <br /> "(5) Sales of goods or merchandise donated by the owners <br /> thereof, the proceeds of which are to be applied to any charitable <br /> or philanthropic purpose; <br /> <br /> "(6) Group elchibits or persons exhibiting and selling agricultural <br /> products on Market Square in the City of Paris; <br /> <br /> "(7) Individuals operating under licenses granted by a State <br /> agency; <br /> <br /> "(8) The solicitation of funds for charitable purposes by any <br /> organization or association from its members; <br /> <br /> "(9) The solicitation of funds for charitable purposes by a person <br /> when such solicitation occurs on premises owned or controlled by <br /> the person soliciting funds or with the permission of the person <br /> who owns or controls the premises, when previously invited to the <br /> premises for solicitation; ur <br /> <br /> "(10) The issuance of any announcement or advertisement that <br /> charitable solicitation will occur or which announces or advertises <br /> an event at which unannounced charitable solicitation will occur. <br /> <br /> "(b) This Article is not to be construed as prohibiting or limiting the <br /> distribution or sale of religious publications, newspapers, handbills or other <br /> written or printed matter sold or distributed for the purpose of disseminating <br /> information or news on sidewalks or in any public place. <br /> <br /> "(c) Any person who peddles any food or beverage for human consumption <br /> shall not be subject to the licensing provisions of this Article, but must be <br /> licensed for such peddling by the Paris-Lamar County Health Department. <br /> <br /> "Sec. 24-3. Unlawful solicitation and handbill distribution. <br /> <br /> "(a) It shall be unlawful for any person to go from house to house or from <br /> place to place in the City soliciting, selling, or taking orders for, or offering to <br /> sell or take orders for, any goods, wares, merchandise, services, newspapers, <br /> <br /> <br /> 4 <br />
