ORDINANCE NO. 95-034 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARI5, TEXAS, PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF PARIS, BE AMENDED BY REVISING SECTION 18-23(a) OF SAID CODE; PROVIDING FOR COLLECTION OF SECURITY FEES TO BE USED FOR MUNICIPAL COURT BUILDING SECURITY FUND; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF SEPTEMBER 1, 1995. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS: Section 1. That Section 18-23(a) of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, be amended so that such shall read as follows: "Sec. 18-23. Fines and special expenses. (a). . . (1) A special expense for service performed in cases in which the laws of the state requiring that the case be dismissed because of actions by or on behalf of the defendant which were subsequent to the date of the alleged offense, being subsection (a), section 143A, Uniform Act Regulating Traffic on Highways, article 6701d, of the Revised Civil Statutes, (permitting the taking of a defensive driving course to bring about dismissal of such action), such special expense shall not exceed the actual expenses incurred for the service or ten dollars ($10.00), whichever is less; (2) A security fee for conviction of a misdemeanor offense in municipal court in the amount of three dollars ($3.00) for municipal court building security fund. In accordance with Section 102.O1enoaems whenl used forh e purpose of may be used only to finance e folowg providing security services for buildings housing a municipal court; a, the purchase or repair of X-ray machines and conveying systems; b, handheld metal detectors; C. walkthrough metal detectors; d, identification cards and systems; e, electronic locking and surveillance equipment; f. bailiffs, or contract security personnel during times when they are providing appropriate security services; g. signage; h. confiscated weapon inventory and tracking systems; or i. locks, chains, or other security hardware shall be paid into the City treasury for the use and benefit of the City or as the laws of the state direct.
