<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Sanitary Sewer - A public sewer conveying <br /> domestic wastewater, industrial wastes, or both, <br /> into which stormwater, surface water, groundwater, <br /> and other unpolluted wastes are not intentiorially <br /> discharged. <br /> Shall - Shall is mandatory. <br /> <br /> Si niticant Industrial User - Any industrial <br /> user o the City POTW who meets any of the follow- <br /> ing: <br /> (1) Is subject t:o categorical pretreatment <br /> standards; <br /> <br /> (2) Discharges a flow of twenty-five thousand <br /> (25,000) gallons or more per day of process <br /> wastewater. <br /> (3) Discharges a flow greater than five <br /> percent (5%) of the total daily flow in the <br /> City's wastewater treatment facility. <br /> <br /> (4) llischarges in his waste toxic pollutants <br /> as defined pursuant to Section 307 of the Act <br /> or State Statutes and Rules. <br /> (5) Is found by the City, State, or the <br /> Environmentai Protection Agency to have <br /> significant impact, either singly or in <br /> combination with other contributing indus- <br /> tries, on the wastewater treatment system, the <br /> quality of sludge, the system effluent quality <br /> or air emissions generated by the system; <br /> Slug (Overload) - The imposition of organic, <br /> inorganic, or hydraulic loading on the POTW in <br /> excess of its engineering design capacity or <br /> operational capability. <br /> Spill - means an act or omission through which <br /> waste or other substances are deposited where, <br /> unless controlled or removed, they will drain, <br /> seep, run, or otherwise enter water in the state. <br /> Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) - A <br /> classification pursuant to the stan ard in ustrial <br /> classification manual issued by the executive <br /> office of the president, office of management and <br /> budget, 1972. <br /> <br /> Storm Sewer - A public sewer assigned to carry <br /> storm and surface waters and draitiage into which <br /> domestic wastewater and industrial wastes are not <br /> intentionaliy discharged. <br /> Stormwater - Flow resulting from and occurring <br /> during or following natural precipitation. <br /> Supervisor - See definition for "Environmental <br /> Services Supervisor." <br /> <br /> Sus ended Solids - The words "suspended <br /> solids sha 1 mean total suspended matter than <br /> either floats on the surface or is in suspension in <br /> water or wastewater and that is removable by <br /> laboratory filtering (as described in standard <br /> methods ror the examination ot water and waste- <br /> water, current edition, or guidelines for <br /> establishing test procedures for the analysis of <br /> pollutants, contained in 40 CFR 136, as published <br /> -9- <br />
