<br /> of October, 1997, at 5:00 p.m., on the northeast corner of the intersection of FM
<br /> 1508 and US Hwy 271 South; and
<br />
<br /> Tract 13
<br /> by and before the Ciry Council of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, on the llth day
<br /> of October, 1997, at 9:30 a.m., on the narth side of County Road 31700 (Lake
<br /> Crook Road),west of the railroad crossing, approximately 600 feet west of US Hwy
<br /> 271 North;
<br />
<br /> which dates are not more than forty (40) nor less than twenty (20) days prior to the institution of
<br /> annexation proceedings; and,
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, notice of such public hearings was published in a newspaper having general
<br /> circulation in the city of Paris, Texas, and in the above-described territory, on the 21 st and 28th
<br /> days of September, 1997, which dates are not more than twenty (20) nor less than ten (10) days
<br /> prior to the dates of such public hearings; and,
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the total corporate area of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, on the lst day of
<br /> January, 1997, was 18,457.6 acres; and,
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the population of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, is in excess of 25,000 and
<br /> less than 50,000 inhabitants, as determined by Texas Department of Commerce, State Data
<br /> Center; and,
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the above-described territory lies within the extraterritorial jurisdiction of
<br /> the City of Paris, Paris, Texas; and,
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the above-described territory lies adjacent to and adjoins the City of Paris,
<br /> Paris, Texas; and,
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the above-described territory contains 5,389.031 acres, more or less, which,
<br /> when added to other properry annexed in the year 1997, is less than thirry percent (30 of the
<br /> present acreage contained in the corporate limits of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas; and,
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, a service plan providing for the extension of municipal services to the above-
<br /> described territory should be approved; and,
<br />
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the above-described property should be properly zoned as of the date of
<br /> annexation; NOW, THEREFORE,
<br />
<br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS:
<br />
<br /> Section 1. The following-described land and territory lying adjacent to and adjoining the
<br /> Ciry of Paris, Paris, Texas, is hereby added and annexed to the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, and
<br /> said territory hereinafter described shall hereafter be included within the boundary limits of the
<br /> City of Paris, Paris, Texas, and the present boundary limits of said City, at the various points
<br /> contiguous to the area hereinafter described, are altered and amended so as to include said area
<br /> within the corporate limits of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, to-wit:

<br />
<br /> BEGINNING at the existing Paris city limits line at US Hwy 82 West and
<br /> Loop 286 N. W., said point being 600 feet west of the centerline of the outside lane
<br /> of Loop 286 N. W.;
<br /> THENCE westerly along the centerline of US Hwy 82 West a distance of
<br /> 4,317.5 feet to a point;
