TEXAS <br />WEDNESDAY. AUGUST 31. 2005 <br />12:00 O'CLOCK P.M. <br /> <br />The Historic Preservation Commission meeting was called to order by <br />Chairman Arvin Starrett at 12:04 P.M. <br /> <br />The following members were present: <br />Barbara Wilson, Vice Chairman <br />Sue Lancaster <br />Alternates: Brian Wear <br />Becki Norment <br /> <br />B. <br /> <br />The following members were absent: <br />Ann Rodgers, Secretary <br />Claudia Hunt <br />Jerry Raper <br />Paul Denney <br /> <br />C. <br /> <br />Also present were Lisa Wright, Historic Preservation Officer; Bethany <br />Golden, Main Street Coordinator; Suzy Harper; and Michael Clark, <br />Winkleman and Associates. <br /> <br />Consideration of and action on the following Certificates of Appropriateness: <br /> <br />A. <br /> <br />Northwest corner of Clarksville Street and 6th Street S.E. - Winkleman <br />& Associates. Michael Clark stated that they agreed to a number of <br />requested changes at the meeting last week. The parapet heights were <br />made consistent. There is no EIFS at the front entry; it is one color-no <br />two tone issues with the block; added pilasters on the back-two <br />horizontal rows and one below; will add one row at cornice level just <br />under the parapet; side canopies were eliminated; added gooseneck <br />lights (at considerable expense); and modified parapet facade to be <br />more regimented and square with the step area. With regard to <br />landscaping, sidewalks are created on both side streets with pedestrian <br />access in both directions; and they maintained the bench and the trees. <br />The tree species were modified to be cedar elms and traded three crape <br />myrtles for two cedar elms. Shrubs will be placed at the entrance. In <br />addition, two of the downtown light poles will be added along the <br /> <br />I <br />
