ORDINANCE N0. 87-003 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF PARIS, BE AMENDED BY REVISING SECTIONS 262-9 (i) AND 26k-33; PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF SPECIFIC USE PERMIT PERMITTING POLE SIGNS TO EXCEED 30 FEET IN HEIGHT AND SIZE NOT TO EXCEED 300 SQUARE FEET NOT LIMITED TO OPZE SQUARE FOOT PER FRONT FOOT OF PROPERTY AND CORRECTING SPECIAL USE TO READ SPECIFIC USE TO PROVIDE CONSISTENCY THROUGHOUT THE AMENDED SECTIONS; PROVID- ING FOR A PENALTY NOT TO EXCEED $200.00; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF FEBRUARY 1, 1987. BE IT ORDAINEB BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PAR7S: Section l. That the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, be amended by revising Section 262-9 (i) so that such shall read as follows: "Sec. 262-9. Prohibited Signs. (i) Pole si ns. The size of pole signs shall be lir:iite to one square foot per front foot of property upon which the same is placed; how- ever, under no circumstances shall such sign exceed 300 square feet in area and 30 feet in height except that pole signs will not be limited to one square foot per front foot of property, nor to 30 feet in height, when erected within a rectangle 1000 feet wide and 4000 feet long running lenghwise with an elevated portion oa Loop 286 or an elevated portion of any Farm to NIarket Road, Texas Highway, or U. S. Highway outside of Loop 286, having its center at the center point of the elevated street or highways' intersection with the depressed street or highway or when erectPd within a rectangle 1500 feet wide and 1000 feet long at an elevated intersection of a Farm to Market Road, a Texas Highway or a U. S. Highway intersection with Loop 286, such rectangle extending inside Loop 286 500 feet from the center point of said intersection and 1000 feet outside of Loop 286 from said center point of said intersection. In the event of a permit application is received for a pole sign to be located within the afore described rectangles, a Specific Use Permit may be issued in accordance with the procedure established in Section 262-33, which would establish the height of such sign and the size of such sign not to exceed a maximum of 300 square feet. No pole sign shall be erected within 20 feet of any residence." Section 2. That the Code of Ordi_nances of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, be amended by revising Section 26k-33 so that such shall read as follows: "Sec. 262-33. Specific Use Permit. A sign permitted to be constructed upon the issuance of a Specific Use Permit shall only be issued a permit after the application for such permit has been submitted to the Specific Use Board composed of the Mayor of the City of Paris or his designated representative, the Chairman of th.e Planning and Zoning Commission, the City Engineer, the Traffic Safety Coordinator and the Director of Community Development."
