ORDINANCE N0. 57-036 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF PARIS, BE AMENDED BY REVISING SECTION 15-32 OF SAID CODE; PROVIDING FOR USE OF AIR FILTERS IN SMOKING AREAS; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY NOT TO EXCEED $200.00; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONF'LICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF AUGUST 1, 1987. BE IT ORDAINF.D BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS: Section 1. That Section 15-32 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, be amended so that sucti shall read as f.ollows: "Sec. 15-32. Smoking Areas. The city will establish one or more sepa- rately ventilated or air filtered, indoor smoking rooms or outdoor shelters at facilities which have no existing area where smokers may go to smoke without exposure to significant health or safety hazards, or within the available break or lunch time. Such areas shall contain ashtrays, con- tainers, or other facilities for extinguishment of smoking materials, be set apart or separated from non-smoking areas, and incZude adequate, separate ventilation or air filters which minimize the effect of smoke in adjacent non-smoking areas." Section 2. Any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be guilty of a Class "C" Misdemeanor, and upon conviction shall be fined in any sum not to exceed $200.00, and each and every day's continuance of any violation of the above eriumerated section shall, constitute and be deemed a separate offense. Section 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby expressly repealed. Section 4. This ordinance shall become effective on August l, 1987.
