<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE N0.87'048 <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, <br /> PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF PARIS, BE <br /> AMENDED BY REVISING SECTION 28-11, SECTION 28-12 ANI7 SECTION <br /> 28-17 OF SAID CODE; PROVIDING THAT THE USE OF REVENUE <br /> DERIVED FROM SAME BE EXPENDED IN ACCORDANCE WITH STATE LAW; <br /> PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY NOT TO EXCEED $500.00; REPEALING ALL <br /> ORDINANCES OR PARTS OR ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND <br /> PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF OCTOBER 1, 1987. <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> PARIS: <br /> <br /> Section l. That Section 28-11 of the Code of Ordinances <br /> of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, be amended so that such <br /> shall read as follows: <br /> "Section 28-11. Tax Levied and Restrictions on <br /> Use. <br /> <br /> (a) . . . <br /> (b) All of the tax revenue derived from the <br /> levy herein may only be used for the purposes <br /> enumerated in Section 28-12 of this Chapter and <br /> shall not be used for the general revenue purposes <br /> or general governmental operations of the city. <br /> <br /> (c) No more than one per cent of the consid- <br /> eration paid by an occupant of a hotel or motel <br /> room may be spend on the arts as authorized by <br /> subparagraph (d) of Section 28-12 of this <br /> Chapter." <br /> Section 2. That Section 28-12 of the Code of <br /> Ordinances of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, be amended so <br /> that such shall read as follows: <br /> "Sec. 28-12. Use of rPVenue limited. <br /> <br /> The revenue derived from the hotel occupancy <br /> tax herein levied under the authority granted in <br /> Article 1269j-4.1 Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes <br /> may only be used to promote tourism and the <br /> convention and hotel industry and such use is <br /> limited to the following: <br /> (a) . . . <br /> (b) . . . <br /> (c) For general promotional and tourist <br /> advertising of the city anci its vicinity <br /> and conducting a solicitation and <br /> operating a program to attract con- <br /> ventions and visitors either by the city <br /> or through contracts with persons or <br /> organizations selected by the city; <br /> (d) . . . <br /> (e) . . . <br /> Section 3. That Section 28-17 of the Code of <br /> Ordinances of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, be amended so <br /> that such shall read as follows: <br /> "Sec. 28-17. Penalty. <br /> Any individual, association or corporation <br /> violating any portion or provision of this arti- <br /> cle, upon conviction, shall be fined in any sum <br />
