ORDINANCE NO. 2548 . AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, BE AMENDED BY REVISING SECTIONS 12-1 AND 12-5 OF SAID CODE; PROVIDING FOR THE COMPOSITION OF THE PARIS FIRE DEPARTMENT AND ESTABLISHING WORKING HOURS AND OVERTIME PROCEDURES; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF JANUARY 1, 1981. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS: Section 1. That Section 12-1 of the Code oE Ord.inances of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, be amended so that such shall read as follows: "Sec. 12-1. Composition of department. The fire department of the c.ity shall be composed of the fire chief and thirty-six (36) members classified as follows: (1) One (1) fire marshal, who shall serve as an assistant to the fire chief. (2) One (1) assistant fire marshal. (3) One (1) f.ire training off.icer. (4) Three (3) deputy fire chiefs. (5) Nine (9) fire engineers. (6) Six (6) firefighter-drivers. (7) Fifteen (15) firefighters. " Section 2. That Section 12-5 of the Code of Ordinances of the C.ity of Paris, Paris, Texas, be amended so that such shall read as follows: "Sec. 12-5. Maximum hours for firemen; overtime pay or compensatory time off. No member of the fire department shall be requ.ired or permitted to work in excess of twenty-four (24) hours in any seventy-two hour period, except in case of dire emergency. Any member working in excess of such maximum time during such emergency shall be compen- sated for such overtime at a rate equal to one and one-half (1-1/2) times the compensation paid to such firemen for regular hours or compensatory time off. "
