ORDINANCE N0. 24_ AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, PRO- VIDING THAT THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, BE AMENDED BY REVISING SECTION 7-3 OF SAID CODE; PROVIDING FOR DECORATIVE CANVAS AWNINGS IN FIRE LIr1ITS; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY NOT TO EXCEED $200.00; iREPEALING ALL IEI DATE E OF I AUGUST L I5T 1979WITH; AND ORDINANCES ANREFFEOCTOV PROVIDING FOR BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS: Section l. That Section 7-3 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, be ar,iended so that such shall read as follows: "Sec. 7-3. Decorative Canvas Awnings in Fire Limits. (a) It shall be unlawful for any person to construct or erect any decorative canvas awning for any building within the fire limits of the City, without a permit so to do issued by the City Engineer. (b) It shall be unlawful for the owner, lessee or occupant of any building within the fire limits of the City to construct, or cause to be constructed for such building, any decorative canvas awning which has not been approved by the Committee of Architetural Preservation of the Central Business District of the City of Paris. (c) The Committee of Architetural Preser- vation of the Central Business District of the City of Paris shall consist of seven (7) members as follows: A member of the Downtown Development Association; a member of the Visitors and Conven- tion Council of the Paris and Lamar County Chamber of Commerce; a practicing architect who is a member of the A.I.A.(Amercian Institute of Architects); a member with nursery or landscape interest; a member of the Lamar County Historical Commission; and two (2) members who are citizens of Lamar County. The members of the said Committee shall be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council. The initial board shall consist of four (4) members appointed for two year terms and three (3) members appointed for a one year term, thereafter all appointments shall be for two year terms. (d) The width and height of decorative canvas awnings shall comply with the requirements of per- manent awnings as the same appears in the current adopted ed.ition of the National Building Code. (e) The owner, lessee, occupant, contractor or any other person constructing a decorative canvas awning for any building within the fire limits of the Gity without complying with all of the provisions of this section shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor."
