ORDINANCE NO. 2480 AN ORLI NANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF PARIS, BE AMENDED BY REVISING SECTIONS 2-22 AND 2-23 OF SAID CODE; PROVIDING FOR AN INCREASE OF 20% IN THE RETIRE- MEA1T INCOME OF RETIRED CITY OF PARIS EMPLOYEES WHO ARE MEMBERS OF THE TEXAS MUNICIPAL RETIRMENT SYSTEM; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDI- NANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF JANUARY l, 1980. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS: Section l. That Paragraph (a) of Section 2-22 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paris be amended so that such shall read as follows: "Sec. 2-22. Initial allowance of updated service credits. (a) On the terms and conditions set out in Section XVII of Article 6243h, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes, as amended 1975, each member of Texas Municipal Retirement System who has current service credit or prior service credit in said System in force and effect on the first day of January, 1980 by reason of service in the employment of the City of Paris, shall be and is hereby allowed "updated service credit" (as that term is defined in said act) in an amount that is one hundred (100) per cent of the "Base Updated Service Credit" of the member, calculated as provided in said act. The updated service credit hereby allowed shall be effective from and after January 1, 1980, and shall be in lieu of and in substitution for all prior ser - vice credits, special prior service credits, and antece- dent service credits, if any, heretofore allowed such member by reason of service with the City of Paris. " Section 2. That Paragraph (b) of Section 2-23 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paris be amended so that such shall read as follows: "Sec. 2-23. Initial increases in annuities in effect. (a) . . . first day of January, 1980 . . . (b) Eaeh such monthly benefit for the month of January, 1980, and each month thereafter shall be in- creased by 20% above the amount of the regular benefit (as distinguished from any supplemental or distributive benefit) in effect for the month of December, 1979. " Section 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in con- flict herewith are hereby expressly repealed.
