<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 2497 <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, <br /> PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF PARIS, <br /> PARIS, TEXAS, BE AMENDED BY REVISING SECTIONS 28-3 AND <br /> 28-4 OF SAID CODE; PROVIDING FOR A RESIDENCE HOMESTEAD <br /> EXEMPTION FOR THE ELDERLY; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES <br /> OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND <br /> PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF APRIL 14, 1980. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> OF PARIS: <br /> <br /> Section l. That Sections 28 -3 and 28 -4 of the Code of <br /> Ordinances of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, be amended so <br /> that such shall read as follows: <br /> <br /> "Sec. 28 -3. Exemption from ad valorem taxes. <br /> <br /> Upon compliance with all requirements of this <br /> article and all other applicable laws and ordinances, <br /> Seventeen thousand dollars ($17, 000. 00) of the <br /> assessed value of residence homesteads of persons <br /> sixty-five (65) years of age or older shall be exempt <br /> from ad valorem taxes levied by the City of Paris. <br /> <br /> Sec. 28-4. Effective date of exemption. <br /> <br /> The exemption authorized in Section 28 -3 shall be <br /> effective as to such residence homesteads as may <br /> qualify hereunder from and after January 1, 1980. <br /> Eligibility for such exemption shall be determined <br /> each year as of January first of such year. " <br /> <br /> Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict <br /> herewith are hereby expressly repealed. <br /> <br /> Section 3. This ordinance shall become effective on <br /> April 14, 1980. <br /> <br /> Passed and adopted this 14th day of April, 1980. <br /> <br /> <br /> , <br /> oo/ <br /> Michael E.
