ORDINANCE NO. 2320 , AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, DECLARING A NEED FOR A HOSPITAL AUTHORITY, CREATING A HOSPITAL AUTHORITY UNDER AND BY VIRTUE OF THE POWERS CONFERRED UPON SAID CITY BY THE HOSPITAL AUTHORITY ACT; DESIGNATING THE NAME BY WHICH SAID AUTHORITY SHALL BE KNOWN; DEFINING THE BOUNDARIES THEREOF, ENACTING PROVISIONS INCIDENT AND RELATED TO THE SUBJECT AND PURPOSE OF THIS ORDINANCE. THE STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF LAMAR CITY OF PARIS WHEREAS, under the provisions of the Hospital Authority Act, Article 4437e, V. A. T. C. S. , as amended, the City Council of the City of Paris is authorized and empowered to create a Hospital Authority if the creation thereof would be to the best interest of the City and its inhabitants; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris has caused an investigation to be made and now finds, determines and declares that it is to the best interest of the City of Paris and its inhabi- tants to create a Hospital Authority under the provisions of the aforesaid Act; and, WHEREAS, it is hereby officially found and determined: that a case of urgent public necessity exists which requires the passage of this Ordinance at this regular meeting of the Ctty Council of the City of Paris for the immediate preservation of public property, health and safety; and that said meeting was open to the public, and public notice of the time, place and purpose of said meeting was given, all as required by Vernon`s Ann. Civ. St. art. 6252-17, as amended. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS: Section l. That it is to the best interest of the City of Paris and its inhabitants to create a Hospital Authority to be comprised of the territory included within the boundaries of the City of Paris, Texas, and said Hospital Authority is hereby created and the same shall be a body politic and corporate under the name of "Paris Hospital Authority", which is hereby designated as the name by which said Hospital Authority shall be known. Section 2. That Paris Hospital Authority shall be governed by a board of directors consisting of seven (7) members. Each of said Directors shall serve for a term of two (2) years, beginning April l, 1977 through March 31, 1979. Each of the directors shall qualify by executing the oath of office required of appointed officials of the State of Texas. The first board of directors shall be appointed at a special meeting of the City Council on the 28th day of March, 1977.
