ORDINANCE NO. 2344 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF PARIS, BE AMENDED BY REVISING CIiAPTER 17 OF SAID CODE; PRO- VIDING FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A LIBRARY DEPARZ`MENT OF THE CITY OF PAR CT HEREW TH; ANDIPROVIDTNG FORTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFL AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF AUGUST 8, 1977. BE IT ORDA INED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PA R IS: Section l. That Chapter 17 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, be amended so that such shall read as follow s : "Chapter 17 LIBRARY Sec. 17-1. Department created. There is hereby created under the authority granted in Section 36 of the Charter of the City of Paris and in accordance with Section 25 of the Charter of the City of Paris the Library Department, whose head shall be known as the Director of Library Services. Sec. 17 -2. Purpose. The purpose of the Library Depax'tment shall be to maintain a free public library within the City of Paris. Such free public library shall be located upon the property donated to the City of Paris by J. J. Culbertson and wife, Emily Lee Culbertson, the same being a lot 100 feet deep, which fronts 100 feet on the West Side of South Main Street, which sl-iall be known as the "Paris Public Library". " Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby expressly repealed. Section 3. This ordinance shall become effective on August 8, 1977.
