ORDINANCE NO. 2399 . <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, <br />PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF PARIS, <br />BE AMENDED BY ADDING A SECTION TO BE NUMBERED 31-30, <br />PROVIDING FOR THE EMERGENCY RATIONING OF CITY OF <br />PARIS WATER; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY NOT TO EXCEED <br />$200. 00; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDI- <br />NANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE OF JULY 12, 1978. <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did meet in <br />Special Emergency Session to consider the Water Department's <br />ability to meet the demands of its customers; and, <br />WHEREAS, it is found that the Water Department cannot meet <br />the unrestricted demands of its customers and therefore an emer- <br />gency exists; and, <br />WHEREAS, emergency measures must be taken to insure that <br />the citizens of Paris are afforded fire protection; NOW, THERE- <br />FORE, <br />BE IT ORDA INED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS: <br />Section 1. That a state of emergency is hereby declared. <br />Section 2. That the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paris <br />be amended by adding Section 31-30, to read as follows: <br />"Section 31-30. Emergency rationing of water. <br />The City Council at any duly constituted meeting may <br />declare a state of emergency when the Water Department <br />of the City cannot meet the demands of its customers. <br />When such an emergency has been declared, it shall be <br />unlawful for any water customer to make outside use of <br />city water for such period of time as the Council may <br />set, and thereafter it shall be unlawful for any water <br />customer with an even address number to make outside <br />use of city water on odd numbered days of the month <br />and for any water customer with an odd address number <br />to make outside use of city water on even numbered days <br />of the month until such time as the City Council declares <br />the state of emergency to cease. " <br />Section 3. Any person violating any of the provisions of this <br />ordinance shall be guilty of a Class "C" Misdemeanor, and upon <br />conviction shall be fined in any sum not to exceed $200. 00. <br />Section 4. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict <br />herewith are hereby expressly repealed. <br />
