PARIS PUBLIC LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD <br />MAY 16, 2001 <br /> <br /> MINUTES <br /> <br />The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session Wednesday, May 16, <br />2001, at 4 PM in the Library with Chairman Jackie Alsobrook presiding and these <br />members present: Sarah Gambill, John Howison, Anna Davis, Nancee Salzman, and <br />Walter Williams. Absent were Curtis Fendley, Rogene Patterson, and Fran Neeley. <br />Jimmye Hancock, Friends President and Priscilla McAnally, Assistant Library Director, <br />were also present. Nancee Salzman took the minutes in Rogene Patterson's absence. <br /> <br />The April 18, 2001, Minutes were approved as distributed. <br /> <br />The Budget Report was distributed and is target with budget expenditures <br /> <br />The Statistical Report was distributed that showed in April there was a slight decrease in <br />circulation from the same month last year. The library again showed it largest increase in <br />Electronic Reference Assistance. <br /> <br />In Children's Services there were 15 programs with 522 children and 113 adults in <br />attendance, which is up from last month. The Preschool Outreach had 18 programs with <br />297 children and 64 adults, and 429 items were distributed at the sites. <br /> <br />The Adult Outreach service visited 17 sites, distributed 1,140 books, 410 audio books, <br />356 videos, and 27 magazines. <br /> <br />In other statistics, there were 33 interlibrary loans in April; and 18 memorial/gift <br />contributions for a total of $317. <br /> <br />In other business, the library still needs volunteers. We were asked to tell our clubs and <br />organizations about the need for volunteers. <br /> <br />In Unfinished Business, June 5 at 4 p.m. is time decided on for the presentation to the <br />Library from the Purple Heart Veterans a book about winners of the Purple Heart, and <br />Board members were urged to be in attendence if at all possible. <br /> <br /> <br />
