PARIS-LAMAR COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH
MINUTES OF MEETING

2the Paris-Lamar County Board of Health held its regular monthly meeting on
Wednesday May 16, 2001, at McCuistion Regional Medical Center. Board members
present included Dr. Robert Moseley, Dr. Bert Strom, Dr. Caroline Wilson, Dr. Ed Clark,
Dr. Wally Kraft, Mrs. Francis Ellis, and Mr. Byron Muse. Others in attendance included
Judge Chuck Superville, Mr. Anthony Bethel, Mr. Bob Ricks, Mr. Paul Swasko, Mrs.
LaDonna Koehn, and Mrs. Carla Rhodes.

Xk~e racet'rog was called to order at 7:07am, and the minutes of the previous meeting were
approved as presented.

Under discussion of the ICES computer, Mr. Bethel informed the Board that the
computer was still in Tyler, and that the Health Department was waiting for it to be
repaired. Dr. Kraft suggested that the computer be picked up from Tyler and sent to
Austin for repair. Mr. Bethel stated he would take care of getting the computer returned
to us from Tyler so that we can take it to Austin.

Under discussion of Asset Mapping, Mr. Swasko passed out a handout and stated that
asset mapping focuses on community strengths. Asset mapping brings in individuals and
groups and identifies strengths in the community. Asset mapping is also known as
community regeneration, and has replaced a community needs assessment.

Under discussion of the QA report, Mr. Bethel passed out a copy of the QA Policy and
Procedure, and minutes from the QA meetings from last year. Mr. Bethel will let the
Board know of the date of the exit interview from the QA review will be held. Dr. Clark
suggested that the Board review the findings of the QA review.

Under discussion of monthly activities, Mr. Bethel passed out monthly reports. Mr.
Bethel reported that the two mosquito sprayer positions had been posted and no one
applied for the jobs, so at the present time the Health Department is not spraying for
mosquitoes.

The next meeting was scheduled for Wednesday, June 20, 2001, at Christus St. Joseph's
Hospital at 7am. The meeting adjourned at 7:55am.

Respectfully submitted,
Bob Ricks
