ORDINANCE NO, 2126 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, PROVID- <br />ING THAT THE CODE OF ORDINANCFS, CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TExAS, <br />BE AMENDED BY REVISING THE TITLE OF SECTION 12-12 AND BY ADDING <br />SUBPARAGRA.PH (c) TO SFCTION 12-12, PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE <br />OF PERMITS PERMITTING OPEN FLAME TORCHES WITHIN THE CORPORATE <br />LIMITS OF THE CITY OF PARIS; PROVIDING FOR A. PENALTY NOT TO <br />EXCEED $200.00; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCFS OR PARTS OF QRDINANCFS <br />IN CONFLr T HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR A.N EFFECTIVE DATE OF <br />FEBRUARY 1, 1973. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS: <br />Section l. That the title to Section 12-12 of the Code <br />of Ordinances of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, be amended <br />so thdt such shall read as follows: <br />"Section 12-12. Outside fires and open flame <br />torches." <br />Section 2. That the Code of Ordinances of the City of <br />Paris, Paris, Texas, be amended by adding Subparagraph (c) to <br />Section 12-12, to read as follows: <br />"Section 12-12. Outside fires and open flame <br />torches. <br />(c) It shall be unlawful for any person to in- <br />stall, erect or maintain any open flame torch on any <br />premises within the corporate limits of the City of <br />Paris unless a permit is obtained for the installa- <br />tion or erection of such torch. Before beginning in- <br />stallation or erection of any open flame torch in the <br />city, an applicant must submit a written request to <br />the office of the f ire marshal and include a plot plan <br />showing the location of torches and their proximity to <br />building, vegetation and other combustibles, driveways, <br />parking areas, streets and walkways. Cutaway drawings <br />of the device and the method of installation must also <br />be submitted. All torch devices proposed to be in- <br />stalled must bear the seal of approval of the <br />American Gas Association or other nationally recog- <br />nized safety testing laboratories. If, after due <br />consideration of the above items, a permit is issued, <br />the installation must be made under the following <br />conditions: <br />(1) No combustibles, including shrubbery, shall <br />be located within ten feet of the open flame. <br />(2) A regulated orifice shall be placed within <br />the supply line of each torch of such size <br />to prevent a flame of over 18 inches in <br />height above the burner outlet when the <br />valve is fully open. <br />(3) Gas shall be delivered to the device at a <br />pressure not greater than the pressure <br />normally provided for residential installa- <br />tions. <br />
