DRAFT ALICE\RESWORK\CURRENT\TX Travel Trails Res June 7, 2001 RESOLUTION NO. ____________ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, ENDORSING T HE COOPERATIVE APPLICATION OF VARIOUS VISITORS GROUPS TO UPDATE AND REVITALIZE THE L AKES TRAIL REGION, UNDER THE TEXAS TRAVEL TRAI L S REGIONAL P ROGRAM OFFERED THROUGH THE TEXAS HISTORICAL COMMISSION; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, tourism development throughout Texas is an important priority and a significant aspect of economic development today; and, WHEREAS, the State of Texas, through the Texas Historical Commission, is reviving the Texas Travel Trails Regional Program, which includes 10 regions; and, WHEREAS, the Dallas/Fort Worth Area Tourism Council has accepted the responsibility to be the coordinating agency for the Lakes Trail Region application, in cooperation with other organizations throughout the region, such as the Red River Valley Tourism Association, Main Street Project Managers, and County Historical Commissions; and, WHEREAS, the Paris Visitors and Convention Council is an active member of the Dallas/Fort Worth Area Tourism Council, the Red River Valley Tourism Association, and the Paris NOW, THEREFORE, Main Street Project Advisory Board; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PAR IS, PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things approved. Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Paris endorses the cooperative application of various visitors groups for approval to update and revitalize the Lakes Trail Region, under the Texas Travel Trails Regional Program offered through the Texas Historical Commission.
