ORDINANCE NO. 1915 <br />AN ORDINANCE SUSPENDING PARKING METER ZONFS ON THE STREETS <br />OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, FROM AUGUST 1, 1969 TO <br />DECEMBER 31, 1969~ AND REGULATING THE PARKING OF VEHICLFS IN <br />THE AREAS PRESENTLY CONTROLLED SY PENNY AND NICKEL METERS; PRO- <br />VIDING UP TO TWO (2) HOURS OF FREE PARKING IN SAID AREAS; PRO- <br />VIDING FOR A FINE NOT TO EXCEED $200.00; AND PROVIDING FOR AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE OF AUGUST 1, 1969. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />PARIS, TEXAS: <br />Section 1. Effective August 1, 1969 and continuing to the <br />31st day of December, 1969, metered parking on the streets of <br />Paris, Texas is suspended. <br />Section 2. It shall be lawful for any person to permit a <br />vehicle under his control to remain in a metered parking space <br />marked and dedicated on the streets of the City of Paris for <br />parallel or angle parking,in areas heretofore controlled by dime <br />meters,for twenty-four (24) hours. <br />Section 3. It shall be lawful for any person to permit a <br />vehicle under his control to remain in a metered parking space <br />marked and dedicated on the streets of the City of Paris for <br />parallel or angle parking, presently controlled by penny or <br />nickel meters,for two (2) hours. <br />Section 4. It shall be unlawful for any person to cause, <br />allow, permit or suffer any vehicle registered in his name or <br />owned or operated by him or in his possession or under his con- <br />trol to be or remain in any space or area in the metered parking <br />spaces on the streets of the City of Paris, heretofore controlled <br />by penny or nickel meters, for more than two (2) hours, from <br />8:00 A. M. to 5:00 P. M., Monday thru Saturday, during the time <br />prescribed in this Ordinance, and said person shall be subject to <br />a fine not to exceed Two Hundred ($200.00) Dollars for each hour <br />or part thereof over two (2) hours, except on legal holidays. <br />Section 5. It shall be unlawful and an offense for any <br />person in any mannez to attempt to evade provisions ofthis <br />Ordinance by the movement of his vehicle or destroying marks <br />thereon within a parking space or in any other manner, and any <br />person violating the provisions of this offense shall be fined <br />not less than $15.00 or more than $200.00. <br />Section 6. The provisions of this Ordinance shall not <br />affect any metered parking lot and shall be effective only on <br />the streets where metered parking has been authorized. <br />Section 7. This ordinance shall become effective on the <br />lst day of August, 1969. <br />
