ORDINANCE NO. 1985 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, REGULATING GARAGE SALES, PROVIDING FOR A PER- MIT, FEE AND HOURS OF OPERATION; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY NOT TO EXCEED $200.00; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDI- NANCFS IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF DECFMBER l, 1970. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS: Section l. Definition. A garage sale is a casual sale conducted in an area zoned for residential use, upon private property, either within a garage, upon a porch or in a yard. Section 2. Permit required. It shall be unlawful for any person to conduct,alone or in concert with others,a garage sale within the corporate limits of the City, without first obtaining a permit to do so from the Director of Finance. Section 3. Application. No permit required by Section 2 hereof shall be issued until the person desiring the permit makes written application therefor to the Director of Finance. Such application shall show the name and address of the applicant or applicants, the location of the sale and the dates the sale is to be conducted. Section 4. Fee. The license fee for a garage sale shall be Five ($5.00) Dollars. The fees herein provided for shall be used for the purpose of defraying expenses incident to the issuing of such licenses. Section 5. Term. Any permit issued under this article shall be valid for one garage sale only, which shall last no more than three (3) days, and that being conducted upon the dates stated within said permit. Section 6. Permit to be exhibited. Any permit issued under this article shall be exhibited + - - - . , -
