ORDINANCE NO. 1801 . <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1625, SECTION 1(a), SUB- <br />SECTION (7), BY FIXING THE FOLLOWING SPEED LIMITS: ON F. M. ROAD <br />1372 BEING 19TH STREE'r9 S. W, g FROM BONHAM STREET OR U, S. HIGHWAY <br />82 TO SHERMAN STREET9 A SPEED LIMIT OF 30 MILES PER HOUR; AND <br />FROM SHERMAN STREET, SOUTH AND WESTS A DISTANCE OF 0. 550 MILES= <br />A SPEED LIMIT OF 40 MILES PER HOUR; AND FROM THE END OF THAT ZONE <br />TO THE SOUTH CITY LIMIT LINE, A SPEED LIMIT OF 45 MILES PER HOUR; <br />AND ON LOOP 286, FROM U.S. HIGHWAY 82 WEST, SOUTH AND EAST TO <br />HIGHWAY 249 LEADING SOUTH FROM THE CITY OF PARIB, A SPEED LIMIT <br />OF 60 MILES PER HOUR; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY NOT TO EXCEED <br />$200.00 FOR EACH OFFENSE; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF <br />ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE <br />DA TE. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS: <br />Sectian 1. That Ordinance No. 1625, Section 1(a)9 Sub-Section (7), be, <br />and the same is hereby amended by designating herein speeds for certain areas <br />within the City Limits, the following designated speed limits: <br />(a) It shall be unlawful for any person to operate or drive any motor or <br />other vehicle at a rate of speed in excess of that specified for the following streets <br />and portions thereof: <br />(l~ On Farm-to-Market Road No. 137, or 19th Street, S.W„ from <br />U. S. Highway 82, or Bonham Street, South to Sherman Street, a <br />distance of 0. 236 miles, a speed limit of 30 miles per hour at <br />all times, and from Sherman Street, South and Southwesterlyp a <br />distance of 0. 550 miles, a speed limit of 40 miles per hour is <br />hereby fixedq and from the end of that speed limit, South and <br />West to the City Limit Line, a distance of 0. 920 miles, a speed <br />limit of 45 miles per hour is hereby fixed, as evidenced by the <br />attached plan which is hereby approved and made a part hereof. <br />(2~ On Highway Loop 286, from U. S. Highway 82 West, a speed limit <br />is fixed South and East on said Loop 286, from said U.S. Highway <br />82 Westa of 60 miles per hour, to where said Loop intersects <br />Highway 24, leading South from Paris, Texas, as evidenced by the <br />attached plan which is hereby approved and made a part hereof. <br />Section 2. Any person violating any provision of this ordinance shall be <br />guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction shall be punished by a fine not <br />to exceed Two Hundred ($200, 00) Dollars. <br />Section 3, All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are <br />hereby expressly repealed. <br />Section 4. This ordinance sha11 become effective on and after publication, <br />as required by the Charter of the City of Paris and the laws of the State of Texas. <br />Passed and adopted this 10th day of October, A.
