ORDINANCE NO. 1639 • <br />AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE QPERATION OF BILLIARD TABLES <br />WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS, DEFINING BILLIARD TABLES, REPEALING ALL <br />ORDINANCES IN CQNFLICT AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the State of Tex.as has enacted House Bill No. 39, authoriz- <br />ing the license of billiard tables and permitting cities to regulate and con- <br />trol the same, as well as prohibit their operation; and, <br />WHEREAS, said act becomes effective on the 23rd day of August, 1963; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS: <br />Section 1. That no person, firm, association of persons, or corporation, <br />may own or operate within the corporate limits of the City of Paris a <br />billiard hall or a billiard table, after the effective date of this ordinance. <br />Section 2. A billiard table is defined herein as any table surrounded by <br />a ledge or cushion with or without pockets upon which balls are impelled by <br />a stick or cue. <br />Section 3. That the operation of said billiard table, whether one or <br />more billiard tables, is hereby declared a misdemeanor, and any person <br />found guilty ther eof shall be fined not to exc eed Two Hundr ed ($200, 00) <br />Dollars. <br />Section 4. That each day of said operation shall be considered a <br />separate and distinct offense and shall be punished as aforesaid. <br />Section 5. All ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. <br />Section 6. The effective date of this ordinance shall be at 1:00 otclock <br />A. M., August 23, A.
