ORDINANCE NO. 1668 AN ORDINANCE MAKING IT UNLAWFUL FOR ANY PERSON TO BURN TRASH, BRUSH, GRASS, LEAVESp PAPER, CLOTH, GARBAGE, TREES, BOARDS, PLANKS, LUMBER OR ANY OTHER CHARACTER OF DEBRIS OR INFLAMMABLE MATERIAL WHATSOEVER EXCEPT COOKING, WASHING AND OTHER PURELY DOME5TIC PURPOSES; AND REQUIRING EACH PER- SON HAVING A FIRE OUT OF DOORS FOR COOKING, WASHING AND OTHER PURELY DOMESTIC PURPOSES TO BUILD SUCH FIRE IN FIRE- PROOF CONTAINERS OR SURROUND SUCH FIRE WITH FIREPROOF MA- TERIALS TO PREVENT SAID FIRE FROM ESCAPING; AND PRESCRIBING A PENALTY OF NOT MORE THAN $200. 00 FOR EACH VIOLATION HEREOF, AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS: 5ection 1. That it has been called to the attention of the City Council of the City of Paris that persons within the Fire Limits of the City of Paris have been burning trash and rubbish, and whereas, most of the structures located within the Fire Limits are in close prox.imity to each other, and a definite threat to the properties of other persons has been caused by the burning of trash and rubbish within the Fire Limits of the City of Paris. Section 2. That it shall hereafter be unlawful for any person to burn trash, brush, grass, leaves, paper, cloth, garbage, trees, boards, planks, lumber or any other character of debris or inflammable material whatsoever out of doors in the Fire Limits of the City of Paris, Texas for any purpose whatsoever except cooking, washing and other purely domestic purposes. Section 3. Whenever it shall become necessary for any person to have a fire out of doors for cooking, washing or any other purely domestic pur- poses, such person is hereby required to build such fire in a fireproof con- tainer of some kind made of brick, stone, metal or other fireproof material or to surround such fire with bricks, stone, metal or other fireproof material in such a way as to prevent said fire from escaping. Section 4. Any person violating this Ordinance shall upon conviction be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be fined not more than $200. 00, and each day that said violation continues shall be considered a separate offense.
