ORDINANCE NO. 1687. AN ORDINANCE DETERMINING THE PUBLIC WELFARE OF THE GLOSING FOR STREET PURPOSES OF SECOND STREET N. W., FROM THE N. B. LINE OF WEST HOUSTON STREET TO THE S. B. LINE OF WEST PRICE STREET; AND DIRECTING THE CLOSING OF SAID 5TREET FOR ALL STREET PURPOSES, RETAINING EASEMENTS FOR ALL CITY UTILITIES; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HERE- WITH. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARI5s TEXAS: Section 1. That it has been called to the attention of the City of Paris, Texas, that The First National Bank of Paris9 has purchased all of the abutting properties on each side of 2nd Street, N. W.a from the N. B. Line of West Houston Street to the S. B. Line of West Price Street. That the said Bank now owns both blocks on the sides of said Street. That said Bank has requested the City Council of the City of Paris, Texas to close said street to all traffic. Section 2. After hearing thereon the City Council finds that it will be to the benefit of the public and to the public welfare that said street be closed. Section 3. Said 2nd Street, N. W. F from the N. B. Line of West Houston Street to the S. B. Line of West Price Street, be, and the same is hereby closed. Section 4. That easements of 20 feet in width are hereby retained unto the City of Paris,, Texas for W ater, Sewer or Storm Sewer that may exist in said Str eet. 5ection 5. That the Mayor, V. E. Stewart, is hereby authorized and di- rected to enter into a contract with The First National Bank of Paris9 Texas, granting to The First National Bank of Paris the right to use the aforesaid street as part of the proposed parking lot and to provide for the exchange between the City of Paris and The First National Bank of Paris of a like amount of area on West Houston Street or on West Price Street, whichever street the City of Paris decides to widen. Section 6. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. Section 7. This ordinance shall become effective immediately upon passage.
