ORDINANCE NO, 1692 • AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SPEED ZONE ORDINANCE NO. 16253 ADOPTED BY THE CITY OF PARIS ON MARCH 18, 1963, BY ADDING THERETO SECTION 1(8), LOOP HIGHWAY 286; FIXING THE SPEED LIMIT AT 60 MILES PER HOUR IN CERTAIN AREAS AND AT 55 MILES PER HOUR IN CERTAIN OTHER AREAS ON SAID LOOP 286; PROVIDING FOR A PEN- ALTY NOT TO EXCEED $200. 00 FOR EACH VIOLATION; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT; AND FIXING AN EFFEGTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS: Section 1. That Speed Zone Ordinance No. 1625. adopted by the City of Paris9 on March 18, 1963, be amended by adding thereto Section 1(8)9 as follows: (8) After proper engineering study and traffic count, the speed limit is fixed on Loop Highway No. 286s beginning at the intersection of Loop 286 with U. S. Highway 82, on the western edge of the City of Paris, extending northerly therefrom, a distance of approximately 1.820 miles, a speed limit of 60 miles per hour at all times is hereby approved and adopted; thence northeasterly a distance of approx.imately 2. 170 miles along said Loop 2869 approving and adopting a speed limit of 55 miles per hour on said Loop at all times; thence southeasterly to the intersection of Loop 286 with U. S. Highway 271., on the southeastern edge of the City of Paris, Texas, a distance of approximately 3.800 miles, approving and adopting a speed limit of 60 miles per hour at all times; all of such distances and speed limits are evidenced by plat or plan which is hereby approved and made a part hereof. 5ection Z. Any person violating the above provision of this ordira nce shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction shall be punished by a fine not exceeding Two Hundred ($200. 00) Dollars. Section 3. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby expressly repealed. Section 4, This ordinance shall become effective on the 30th day of September, A. D. , 1964.
