ORDINANCE NO. 1565 ~ <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE REGULATING AND CONTROLLING THE CONSTRUCZiON, <br />R.EPAIRS, ALTERATIONS AND THE REMOVAL OF CONCR.ETE SIDEWALKS, <br />CONCRETE CURBSs CONCRETE GUTTERS, CONCRETE CURB AND GUTTERS, <br />AND CONCRETE DRIVEWAYS, WITHIN THE RIGHT-OF-WAYS OF THE PUB- <br />LIC STREETS AND ALLEYS OF THE CITY OF PARIS; ESTABLISHING <br />STANDARD SECTIQNS AND SPECIFICATIONS; PROVIDIlVG FOR APPEALS; <br />ESTABLISHING A PENALTY; ESTABLISHING A PER.MIT FEE; AND REPEAL- <br />IIVG ORDINANCE NO. 286 AND 1288 OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, EN- <br />TITLED 'AN ORDINANCE REGULA TING THE CONSTRUCTION OF SIDE- <br />WALKS ; AND 'AN ORDINANCE REGULATING AND CONTROLLING THE <br />BUILDING AND LAYING OF CURBS AND GUTTERS'; RESPECTIVELY. <br />BE IT OR.DAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS: <br />Section I: Permits Required <br />It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation, to build, construct, <br />lay, alter, remove, demolish, repair or rebuild any section or portion, of a <br />concrete sidewalk, concrete curb, concrete gutter, concrete curb and gutter, <br />and concrete driveway, within the boundaries of the right-of-way of any public <br />street or alley within the corporate limits of the City of Paris, without first <br />obtaining a permit and paying the fee for same, from the City Engineer of the <br />City of Paris, in conformity with the provisions of this Qrdinance. <br />Section II: Engineering <br />It shall be the duty of the City Engineer to forthwith establish the align- <br />ment and grade for each Section of construction for which a permit is issued. <br />No type of construction covered in this Ordina.nce will be built, constructed, <br />altered, or reconstructed, except on alignment and grade so esta.blished, <br />Section III: Materials <br />(a) Cement: Cement sha.ll be sta,ndard Portland Cement conforming to <br />ASTM Designation C74-39 or later revisions. <br />(b) Aggregates: Concrete aggregates shall consist of natural washed and <br />screened sand, and washed and acreened gravel or clean crushed <br />stone, conforming to sta.ndard specifications for concrete aggregate <br />ASTM Designation C33-39 or later revisions. Aggregates shall be <br />well graded from coarse to finey and when tested by laboratory <br />methods, shall conform to the following requirements: <br />Fine Aggregate Coarse Aggregate <br />Passing 1-1/21sieve - - - - 100°Jo <br />Passing 1"sieve 90 - 100% <br />Passing 1/21'sieve - - - - 25 - 60°jo <br />Passing 1/411 sieve 100% - - - - <br />Pa,ssing No. 4 sieve 95 - 100% 0- 10°jo <br />Pa,ssing No. 16 sieve 45 - 800/o <br />Passing No. 50 sieve 10 - 30% <br />Passing No. 100 sieve 5- 150/o - _ - _ <br />Pa.saing No. 200 mesh - not more 3% <br />Fine aggregates shall be free from clay lumps and other foreign matter <br />objectionable to good concrete materials. <br />(c) Reinforcement Steel; If called for in the proposal, reinforcing <br />steel for concrete driveways sha.ll conform to requirements as <br />outlined in ASTM Specification A305-50 or later revisions. <br />
