B. Hardware: Adjust and check each operating item of hardware to ensure proper operation and <br /> function. Replace units that cannot be adjusted to operate freely and smoothly. <br /> 1. Where door hardware is installed more than one month before acceptance or occupancy, <br /> make final check and adjustment of hardware items during the week before acceptance or <br /> occupancy. Clean operating items as necessary to restore proper function and finish of <br /> hardware and doors. Adjust door control devices to compensate for final operation of <br /> heating and ventilating equipment. <br /> <br />3.10 CLEANING AND PROTECTION <br /> <br /> A. Touchup Painting: Immediately after erection, clean, prepare, and prime or reprime welds, <br /> bolted connections, and abraded surfaces of prime-painted primary and secondary framing, ac- <br /> cessories, and bearing plates. <br /> 1. Clean and prepare surfaces by hand-tool cleaning, SSPC-SP 2, or power-tool cleaning, <br /> SSPC-SP 3. <br /> 2. Apply compatible primer of same type as shop primer used on adjacent surfaces. <br /> <br /> B. Touchup Painting: Cleaning and touchup painting of field welds, bolted connections, and <br /> abraded surfaces of shop-painted primary and secondary framing, accessories, and bearing <br /> plates are included in Division 9 Section "Painting." <br /> <br /> C. Repair damaged galvanized coatings on exposed surfaces with galvanized repair paint accord- <br /> ing to ASTM A 780 and manufacturer's written instructions. <br /> <br /> D. Roof and Wall Panels: Remove temporary protective coverings and strippable films, if any, as <br /> soon as each panel is installed. On completion of panel installation, clean finished surfaces as <br /> recommended by panel manufacturer and maintain in a clean condition during construction. <br /> 1. Replace panels that have been damaged or have deteriorated beyond successful repair by <br /> finish touchup or similar minor repair procedures. <br /> <br /> E. Doors: Immediately after erection, sand smooth any rusted or damaged areas of prime coat and <br /> apply touchup of compatible air-drying primer. <br /> 1.
