<br />1990 U.S Census population data range from age groups indicates that the City of Paris has twice the
<br />percentage of senior citizen population as the State of Texas as a whole. The percentage of the Paris
<br />population aged 65 and over was 20.1% in 1990. Comparatively, the population aged 65 and over in the
<br />State of Texas was 10.1% in 1990. Population estimates for 1997 indicate this trend will continue. 1997
<br />estimates place the percentage of population aged 65 and over in the City of Paris at 20.4% as compared
<br />to 10.1% for the total population of the State of Texas. Population data indicates emphasis should be
<br />given to senior citizen issues and services in the City of Paris.
