DRAFT <br /> <br />LISA~RESOLUTIONS\CURRENT~Redistricting Committee Res <br /> August 11, 2001 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />PARIS, TEXAS, ESTABLISHING AND APPOINTING MEMBERS TO THE <br />COUNCIL/CITIZENS REDISTRICTING ADVISORY COMMITTEE; <br />MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE <br />SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 9th day of July, <br />2001, by Resolution No. 2001-085, authorize the issuance of an order calling for the redistricting of <br />political boundaries and City Council districts within the city of Paris in accordance with census data <br />issued by the United States Census Bureau and State and Federal law and Section $ of the City <br />Charter; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is deemed appropriate that a Council/Citizens Redistricting Advisory <br />Committee be created for the purposes of reviewing and discussing various redistricting concepts and <br />making recommendations thereon; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is further deemed appropriate that said Committee consist of fifteen (15) <br />members as follows: the seven (7) members of the City Council; one (1) citizen from each of the <br />seven (7) City Council districts, said members being selected by the Council members from each <br />respective district; and one (1) citizen chosen at large by the Mayor; NOW, THEREFORE, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things <br />approved. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Paris does hereby deem it advisable to <br />establish a Council/Citizens Redistricting Advisory Committee for the purposes of reviewing and <br />discussing various redistricting concepts and making recommendations thereon. <br /> <br /> Section 3. That the Council/Citizens Redistricting Advisory Committee shall consist of fifteen <br />(15) members as follows: the seven (7) members of the City Council; one (1) citizen from each of the <br />seven (7) City Council districts, said citizens being selected by the Council members from each <br />respective district; and one (1) citizen chosen at large by the Mayor. <br /> <br /> Section 4.
