RESOLUTION r1o. 83-067 <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is aware <br />of the fact that the collection rate for inpatient transfer <br />service conducted by the Paris and Lamar County Ambulance <br />Service has been approximately 80%; and, <br />WHEREAS, due to Medicare Part B Ambulance Medicare <br />Newsletter No. 24, we have become aware of the fact that <br />Medicare excludes from its coverage all items supplies and <br />services furnished to an inpatient other than physicians <br />services that are not directly furnished by the Hospital or <br />by others on the Hospital's behalf. Therefore, ambulance <br />services to inpatient's of a Hospital must be billed <br />directly to the Hospital; and, <br />WHEREAS, it becomes appropriate for the City of Paris <br />as an ambulance provider to contract directly with hospitals <br />for inpatient ambulance transportation in the form of <br />Exhibit A attached hereto; NOW, THEREFORE, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, that the rlayor of the City of Paris, Joe Graham, be, <br />and he is hereby authorized and directed to execute on <br />behalf of the City of Paris contracts for inpatient ambu- <br />lance transportation with L. P.
