RESOLUTION N0. 2164 <br />WHEREAS, an election was held by the qualified voters <br />of Wards l, 2, 3 and 6 of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, <br />on the lOth day of April, 1982, for the purpose of voting <br />for and electing the Councilmen from each of said Wards <br />to serve as members of the City Council for the ensuirig <br />two (2) years, to-wit: <br />l. Councilman From Ward One (1) <br />2. Councilman From Ward Two (2) <br />3. Councilman From Ward Three (3) <br />4. Councilman From Ward Six (6) <br />WHEREAS, as required by Order of the District Court <br />of the United States for the Eastern District of Texas, <br />Paris Division, in Civil Action No. P-75-3-CA, and as pro- <br />vided in the Charter of the City of Paris and the laws of <br />the State of Texas wherein they do not conflict with said <br />Order, such election was conducted and held at four (4) <br />specified and designated polling places, that is, one <br />polling place in Wards 1, 2, 3 and 6 of the City of Paris, <br />Paris, Texas; and, <br />WHEREAS, sealed returns of said election, made by the <br />duly appointed and designated election officials of and <br />for the four (4) respective voting boxes, have been made <br />to the Mayor and City Council of the City of Paris, as <br />required by law, which returns after due and deliberate <br />review and canvass thereof, show the following results <br />of said election, to wit: <br />(1) IN WARD ONE (1) A TOTAL OF 122 VOTES WERE CAST FOR <br />COUNCILMAN FROM WARD ONE (1 AS FOLLOWS: <br />George Fisher, Jr, <br />Travis WorthaM <br />68 votes; <br />54 votes. <br />(2) IN WARD TWO (2) A TOTAL OF 36 VOTES WERE CAST FOR <br />COUNCILMAN FROM WARD TWO (2 AS FOLLOWS: <br />Walter Williams <br />Write-In Candidates <br />35 votes; <br />1 votes. <br />(3) IN WARD THREE (3) A TOTAL OF 20 VOTES WERE CAST FOR <br />COUNCILMAN FROM WARD THREE (3 AS FOLLOWS: <br />Gene McWaters, Jr. <br />Write-In Candidates <br />19 votes; <br />-1 votes. <br />(4) IN WARD SIX (6) A TOTAL OF 28 VOTES WERE CAST FOR <br />COUNCILMAN FROM WARD SIX (6 AS FOLLOUIS: <br />Donald G. Wilson <br />Write-In Candidates <br />27 votes; <br />1 votes. <br />NOW, TT-iEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF PARIS, that from the above and foregoing canvass of <br />the returns of the votes in the four (4) respective voting <br />boxes in such election, it is declared and determined that <br />George Fisher, Jr „ is the person receiving the highest <br />number of votes of the votes cast at such election for <br />Councilman From Ward One (1), and is therefore elected to <br />serve as Councilman From Ward One (1) and as a member of the <br />City Council of the City of Paris for the ensuing two (2) years; <br />
