RESOLUTION N0. 2199 <br />WHEREAS, the Texas Main Street Center of the Texas <br />Historical Commission has been created to assist small <br />cities to develop a public-private effort to revitalize <br />their "Main Street" areas, and five Texas cities will <br />be selected to participate in the project in 1983; <br />WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the best interest <br />to the citizens of Paris that the City of Paris, make <br />application for and partici ate in the Main Street Program <br />at a total project cost of $20,000.00. $2,500.00 to be <br />provided by Sid W. Richardson Foundation Grant and $17,500.00 <br />to be provided by local funds; NOW, THEREFORE, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS: <br />l. That an application be made for selection to <br />participate i.n the 1983 Main Street Program with the <br />specific goal of revitalizing the central business d.istrict <br />within the context of the preservation and rehabilitation <br />of its historic buildings at a total project cost of $20,000.00. <br />2. That Robert W. Sokoll, City Manager of the City <br />of Paris, Paris, Texas, be, and is hereby designated certi- <br />fying representative and he is hereby authorized and directed, <br />on behalf of the City of Paris to execute and file all <br />applications, assurances and contracts necessary to make <br />the City of Paris eligible to participate in said project: <br />3. That Joe McCollum, Director of Community Development, <br />be, and he is hereby designated Project Director and Contact <br />Person to execute and deliver all other communications, <br />instruments, assurances and documents necessary for the <br />completion of said proj ect e <br />4. That Robert W. Sokoll, City Manager of the City of <br />Paris, Paris, Texas, be, and he is hereby authorized and <br />directed in the event the City of Paris is selected to <br />participate in the Main Street Project to select an employee, <br />designated as Main Street Project Manager, and to provide <br />that Manager with travel funding for training. <br />5.
