RESOLUTION N0. 1819 , <br />WHEREAS, highspeed telecommunications equipment in the <br />City of Paris is presently nonexistant or inadequate; and, <br />WHEREAS, the structure of the statewide highspeed teletype <br />system has been determined and development of regional systems <br />will continue on the basis of the statewide concept established by the <br />Texas Criminal Justice Division, Office of the Governor, State of <br />Texas; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Texas Criminal Justice Information Users <br />Group in conjunction with the Texas Criminal Justice Division has <br />submitted bidding specifications to prospective vendors, and after <br />considering the bids, has determined the low compliant bidder; and, <br />WHEREAS, it is the opinion of this City Council that the best <br />interest of the citizens of the City of Paris will be served by parti - <br />cipating in this cooperative program; NOW, THEREFORE, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, AS FOLLOWS: <br />l. The City of Paris desires to participate in the <br />highspeed teletype network expansion by acquiring <br />a highspeed terminal and adjunct equipment, <br />Z. The City of Paris is eligible to participate in the <br />Highspeed Teletype Network Expansion by virtue of <br />compliance with the Criminal Justice Division's <br />established funding criteria, namely, that this <br />agency is replacing an existing slowspeed terminal <br />or teletype presently operating on the Texas' Law <br />Enforcement Telecommunications Network. <br />3. The North Central Texas Council of Governments <br />is authorized to enter into binding contract with <br />the 1ow compliant vendor and to purchase tele- <br />communications equipment in behalf of the City of <br />Paris. <br />4. The City understands that the Texas Criminal <br />Justice Division is providing 85% funding and that <br />the amount of $l, 546. 00 is our matching share <br />for the purchase of the equipment and the ad- <br />ministrative cost of the project. <br />5. This City understands and accepts the special <br />conditions placed by the Texas Criminal Justice <br />Division and the Law EnEorcement Assitance <br />Administration on the receipt of government funds <br />for telecommunications equipment. <br />6. To indicate the City's desire to participate in this <br />program, a co~y of this resolution will be for- <br />warded to the North Central Texas Council of <br />Governments. <br />
