1819 RES HIGHSPEED TELECOMMUNICATIONS EQUIPMENT IN COP IS NONEXISTENT OR INADEQUATE

RESOLUTION N0. 1819 , WHEREAS, highspeed telecommunications equipment in the City of Paris is presently nonexistant or inadequate; and, WHEREAS, the structure of the statewide highspeed teletype system has been determined and development of regional systems will continue on the basis of the statewide concept established by the Texas Criminal Justice Division, Office of the Governor, State of Texas; and, WHEREAS, the Texas Criminal Justice Information Users Group in conjunction with the Texas Criminal Justice Division has submitted bidding specifications to prospective vendors, and after considering the bids, has determined the low compliant bidder; and, WHEREAS, it is the opinion of this City Council that the best interest of the citizens of the City of Paris will be served by parti - cipating in this cooperative program; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, AS FOLLOWS: l. The City of Paris desires to participate in the highspeed teletype network expansion by acquiring a highspeed terminal and adjunct equipment, Z. The City of Paris is eligible to participate in the Highspeed Teletype Network Expansion by virtue of compliance with the Criminal Justice Division's established funding criteria, namely, that this agency is replacing an existing slowspeed terminal or teletype presently operating on the Texas' Law Enforcement Telecommunications Network. 3. The North Central Texas Council of Governments is authorized to enter into binding contract with the 1ow compliant vendor and to purchase tele- communications equipment in behalf of the City of Paris. 4. The City understands that the Texas Criminal Justice Division is providing 85% funding and that the amount of $l, 546. 00 is our matching share for the purchase of the equipment and the ad- ministrative cost of the project. 5. This City understands and accepts the special conditions placed by the Texas Criminal Justice Division and the Law EnEorcement Assitance Administration on the receipt of government funds for telecommunications equipment. 6. To indicate the City's desire to participate in this program, a co~y of this resolution will be for- warded to the North Central Texas Council of Governments.
