RESOLUTION NO. 1645 <br />WHEREAS, an election was held by the qualified voters of <br />the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, on the 22nd day of October, 1974, <br />for the purpose of determining whether an amount not less than <br />$3, 000 of the assessed value of residence homesteads of persons <br />65 years of age or older shall be exempt from ad valorem taxes <br />levied by the City of Paris, as provided in Article 8, Section 1-b, <br />of the Constitution of the State of Texas, which proposition was <br />brought to this referendum in accordance with the Charter of the <br />City of Paris, Paris, Texas, to-wit: <br />FOR or AGAINST THE PROPOSITION OF WHETHER <br />AN AMOUNT NOT LESS THAN $3, 000 OF THE <br />ASSESSED VALUE OF RESIDENCE HOMESTEADS <br />OF PERSONS 65 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER SHALL <br />BE EXEMPT FROM AD VALOREM TAXES LEVIED <br />BY THE CITY OF PARIS ; and, <br />WHEREAS, as required by law and directed and provided <br />by the Charter and Ordinances of the City of Paris, such election <br />was conducted and held at four (4) specified and designated poll- <br />ing places, that is, one polling place in each bf the four (4) <br />wards of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas; and, <br />WHEREAS, sealed returns of said election, made by the <br />duly appointed and designated election officials of and for the four <br />(4) respective voting boxes, have been made to the Mayor and <br />City Council of the City of Paris, as required by law, which re- <br />turns, after due and deliberate review and canvass thereof, show <br />the following results of said election, to-wit: <br />(1) IN WARD ONE (1) A TOTAL OF 662 VOTES <br />WERE CAST AS FOLLOWS: <br />FOR THE PROPOSITION: 415 Votes; <br />AGA.INST THE PROPOSITION: 247 Votes. <br />(2) IN WARD TWO (2) A TOTAL OF 240 VOTES <br />WERE CAST AS FOLLOWS: <br />FOR THE PROPOSITION: 185 Votes; <br />AGAINST THE PROPOSITION: 55 Votes. <br />(3) IN WARD THREE (3) A TOTAL OF 298 VOTES <br />WERE CAST AS FOLLOWS: <br />FOR THE PROPOSITION: 244 Votes; <br />AGAINST THE PROPOSITION: 54 Votes. <br />(4) IN WARD FOUR (4) A TOTAL OF 523 VOTES <br />WERE CAST AS FOLLOWS: <br />FOR THE PROPOSITION: 420 Votes; <br />AGAINST THE PROPOSITION: 103 Votes. <br />
