MINUTES <br />TRAFFIC COMMISSION <br />CITY OF PARIS <br />SEPTEMBER 4, 2001 <br /> <br />The Traffic Commission of the City of Paris met in regular session Tuesday, <br />September 4, 2001, at 5:15 P.M. in the Municipal Court Room with the <br />following members present: <br /> <br />1. Charles Thompson <br />2. Mary Lane <br />3. George Robinson <br />4. Cleo Holmes <br /> <br />5. Ed Ellis <br /> 6. Ricky Mackey <br />7. Kenneth Webb <br /> <br />The city staff was represented by Assistant Police Chief James Barnett. <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Chairman George Robinson at 5:15 P.M. <br /> <br />The minutes of the May 8, 2001 meeting were approved as submitted. <br /> <br />The first item of business was the request for Stop Signs on SW. 9th Street <br />stopping North and South bound traffic at West Austin Street. <br /> <br />After learning that there had been no accidents reported at this intersection <br />in the past several years Ed Ellis made a motion to deny the request. Mary <br />Lane seconded and the motion carried 7 ayes to 0 nays. <br /> <br />The next request was for Stop Signs on Silverleaf at Oak Creek stopping <br />North and South bound traffic at Oak Creek. <br /> <br />When questioned about stop signs having been recommended at this <br />intersection earlier Barnett explained that one stop sign had been <br />recommended at that time in the belief that this was a three-way <br />intersection. When the traffic department went out to install the sign they <br />reported it is a four way intersection and recommended stopping North and <br />South bound traffic. He also explained that the new ordinance would have <br /> <br /> <br />
