RFSOLUTION NO. 1495 <br />WHERFAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is well <br />aware of the importance of adequate railway freight service to <br />the City of Paris, Paris, Texas; and, <br />WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the City of <br />Paris that Southern Pacific Transportation Company has made <br />application to abandon its line running from Paris, Texas to <br />Commerce, Texas; and, <br />WHEREAS, it is deemed to the best interest of the City <br />of Paris and its surrounding area that the City of Paris oppose <br />such application; NOW, THEREFORE, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />That the City of Paris officially protest the application of <br />the Southern Pacific Transportation CompaxZy to abandon its line <br />running from Paris, Texas to Commerce, Texas, and in this re- <br />gard to be official protestants in any protest filed before the <br />Interstate Commerce Commission against said application; and, <br />BE IT FURTHFP, RESOLVED, That the City of Paris authorize <br />the law firm of Fisher, McLaughlin and Harrison, of Paris, <br />Texas, to represent it in connection with its protest of said <br />abandonment. <br />Passed and adopted this 12th day of June, 1972. <br />ATTFST : <br />. <br />~ . , <br />x ' <br />_ . <br />H.
