RESOLUTION NO. 1450 <br />WHEREAS, Section 709 of Title VII of the Housing Act of <br />1961, as amended, provides for the making of grants of Federal <br />funds by the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development to <br />States and local public bodies to assist in financing the ac- <br />quisition of title to or other permanent interests in areas, <br />sites, and structures of historic or architectural value in <br />urban areas, and in their restoration and improvement for <br />public use and benefit, in accord with the comprehensively <br />planned development of the locality; and, <br />WHER EAS, the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, herein some- <br />times referred to as "Applicant", deems it necessary and in <br />the public interest to undertake an historic preservation <br />project, hereinafter called the "Project", with Federal grant <br />assistance to improve and restore the General Sam Bell Maxey <br />Home for historic preservation located within the corporate <br />limits of the City of Paris, Lamar County, Texas, being a <br />Greek Revival Style two-story home,constructed in 1867, with <br />gardens and grounds, located upon the following described <br />property: <br />FIRST TRACT: A part of the Larkin Rattan Survey <br />within the corporate limits of the City of Paris, de- <br />scribed by metes and bounds as follows in accordance <br />with a survey made by W. R. Abbott, Registered Public <br />Surveyor, on the 27th day of April, 1966: <br />SEGINNING at a stake at the Northeast corner of <br />a brick marker at the intersection of the South <br />Boundary Line of Washington Street with the West <br />Boundary Line of Church Street; <br />THENCE South along the West Boundary line of <br />Church Street, a distance of 256 feet to a stake for <br />corner at the Northeast corner of a tract of land <br />conveyed Paul Franklin by deed recorded in Vol. 361, <br />Page 117, of the Deed Records of Lamar County; <br />THENCE West a distance of 282 feet, a stake for <br />corn er ; <br />THENC E North a distance of 262 feet, a stake for <br />corner in the South Boundary line of Washington Street; <br />THEIVCE East along the South Boundary line of <br />Washington Street a distance of 285 feet to the place <br />of beginning. <br />S DCOND TRACT: A part of the Larkin Rattan Survey <br />within the corporate limits of the City of Paris, de- <br />scribed by metes and bounds as follows in accordance <br />with a survey made by W. R. Abbott, Registered Public <br />Surveyor, on the 27th day of April, 1966: <br />BEGINNING at a stake for corner at the Northwest <br />corner of a tract of land conveyed Paul Franklin by <br />deed recorded in Book 361, Page 117, of the Deed <br />Records of Lamar County; <br />THEIVCE West a distance of 52 .feet, a stake for <br />corner, said point being 262 feet South of the South <br />Boundary line of Washington Street; <br />THENCE South a distance of 90 feet, a stake for <br />corner; <br />THENCE East a distance o.f 52 feet, a stake for <br />corner at the Southwest corner of said Franklin tract <br />of land; <br />THENCE North a distance of 90 feet to the place <br />of beginning. <br />
