RFSOLUTION NO. 1448 <br />WHF.REAS, the home of General Sam Bell Maxey at 812 Church <br />Street, Paris, Texas, is historically significant and should be <br />preserved as the Maxey Museum; and, <br />WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the City <br />Council of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, that the Lamar <br />County Historical Society, Inc. is desirous of transferring <br />title of the Maxey Museum property to the City of Paris; and, <br />WHER EAS, the Lamar County Historical Society, Inc. feels <br />that the City of Paris can best guarantee perpetual operation <br />and maintenance of the Maxey Museum; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Lamar County Historical Society, Inc. has <br />agreed to continue its operation of the Maxey Museum; NOW, <br />THER EFOR E, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS ) <br />PARIS, TEXAS, That the City of Paris agrees to accept title to <br />the Maxey Museum property, conditioned upon the continued <br />operation of the same by the Lamar County Historical Society, <br />Inc. <br />Passed and adopted this 8th day of November, 1971. <br />ATTEST • <br />H.
