KESOLUTION NO. 1441
<br />WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the City
<br />Council of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, that federal funds
<br />are available to encourage open-space development; and,
<br />WHER EAS, the City Council of the City of Paris recognizes
<br />the need for an additional park area to be loc ated in the West
<br />part of Paris, one having already been planned, but not con-
<br />structed, in the North East section of Paris; and,
<br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris has here-
<br />tofore, in Resolution No. 1395, stated its agreement to parti-
<br />cipate in accordance with Title VII of the Hausing Act of 1961,
<br />as amended, and to be governed by the rules covering the de-
<br />velopment of open-space land, wherein the property to be pur-
<br />chased was described as 18.18 acres; and,
<br />WHEREAS, for such park program to advance, it is
<br />necessary that the City Council of the City of Paris authorize
<br />the purchase of the park site property described as follows:
<br />Situated within the Corporate Limits of the City of
<br />Paris, County of Lamar, State of Texas, a part of the
<br />Asa Jarman Survey and being a part of a 52.4 acre tract
<br />of land known as Lot 9 in the partition of the Claiborn
<br />Chisum Estate and conveyed to Benjamin B. Griffith by
<br />John S. Chisum by deed recorded in Book K, Volume 1,
<br />Page 699, Lamar County Deed Records.
<br />BEGINNING at a stake for corner, said beginning
<br />corner being the S.W. Corner of Shiloh and 14th
<br />Street N.W. and also being the N.E. Corner of a 82
<br />acre tract of land described in a deed f'rom Lizzie
<br />Walker to H. R. Walker on February 5, 1953, recorded
<br />in Vol. 342, Page 415, Deed Records of Lamar County,
<br />Texas.
<br />THENC E South 0 Degrees 32 Minutes East with the
<br />West B/L of 14th St. N.W. 441.82 feet to a corner,
<br />same being the N.E. Corner of a lot conveyed Frank
<br />Barnes, described in Vol. 304, Page 595, Deed
<br />Records of Lamar County, Texas.
<br />THENCE South 87 Degrees 23 Minutes West with the
<br />Barnes North line 200 ft, to the Barnes N.W. Corner
<br />and the N. E. Corner of a tract of land owned by
<br />Delbert H. Pearson, recorded in Vol. 464, Page 43,
<br />Deed Records of Lamar County, Texas and continuing on
<br />South 87 Degrees 23 Minutes West for a total distance
<br />of 470 feet to th e N.W. Corner of the Pearson tract.
<br />THENC E South O Degrees 32 Minutes East with the
<br />Pearson tract by the S.W. Corner of said Pearson tract
<br />for a total of 448.5 feet to the S.W. Corner of a lot
<br />owned by William Diggs, description of same is re-
<br />corded in Vol. 297, Page 471.
<br />THENCE South 88 Degrees 05 Minutes West by the
<br />N.E. and N.W. Corner of a lot conveyed to Pete
<br />Huggins and recorded in Vol. 358, Page 101 and along
<br />the North B/L of a tract of land described in a deed
<br />recorded in Vol. 346, Page 324 to P. A. Reeves for a
<br />total distance of 655 feet to the N.W. Corner of the
<br />Reeves tract, a corner in the East B/L of 18th St., N.W.
