RESOLUTION NO. _1367 <br />WHEREAS, an election was held by the qualified voters of the <br />City of Paris, Paris, Texas, on the 7th day of April2 1970, for the <br />purpose of voting for and electing four (4) members of the City <br />Council of the City of Paris to serve for the ensuing two (2) years, <br />to-wit: <br />l. Councilman From Ward One (1) <br />2. Councilman From Ward Two (2) <br />3. Councilman From Ward Three (3) <br />4. Councilman From Ward Four (4) <br />WH"r~ZFAS, as required by law and directed and provided by the <br />Charter and Ordinances of the City of Paris, such election was con- <br />ducted and held at four (4) specified and designated polling places, <br />that is, one polling place in each of the four (4) wards of the City <br />of Paris, Paris ? Texas ; and, <br />WHEREAS, sealed returns of said election, made by the duly ap- <br />pointed and designated election officials of and for the four (4) <br />respective voting boxes, have been made to the Mayor and City Council <br />of the City of Paris, as required by law, which returns, after due <br />and deliberate review and canvass thereof, show the following results <br />of said election, to-wit: <br />(1) IN WARD ONE (1) A TOTAL OF 862 VOTES WERE CAST AS FOLLOWS: <br />For Councilman From Ward One: <br />Doyle Whitaker, 254 votes; <br />Bill Williams, 343 votes; <br />Clarence 19Sooner" Mazy, 224 votes; <br />Write-in Candidates, O votes. <br />For Councilman From Ward Two: <br />Ben M. Hinds, 502 votes; <br />151 <br />votes; <br />Bill R. Boswell, <br />Eddie Sawyer, 53 votes; <br />Paul Nash, 136 votes; <br />Write-in Candidates, 0 votes. <br />For Councilman From Ward Three: <br />F. D. Mallory III, 683 votes; <br />Frank N. Lewis, 160 votes; <br />Write-in Candidates, 0 votes. <br />For Councilman From Ward Four: <br />Edmond A. "Pete" Parham, 717 votes; <br />Charles E. Battle, 137 votes; <br />Write-in Candidates, 1 votes. <br />(2) IN WARD TWO (2) A TOTAL OF 250 VOTES WERE CAST AS FOLLOWS: <br />For Councilman From Ward One: Doyle Whitaker, 96 votes; <br />Bill Williams, 67 votes; <br />Clarence '7Sooner" Mazy, 61 votes; <br />Write-in Candidates, 0 votes. <br />For Councilman From Ward Two: Ben M. Hinds, 93 votes; <br />Bill R. Boswell, 71 votes; <br />Ed.die Sawyer, 18 votes; <br />Paul Nash, 57 votes; <br />Write-in Candidates, 0 votes. <br />
