RFSOLUTION NO. 1356 WHER EAS, it has been suggested to the City Council of the City of Paris that pornography, in the form of magazines, books and motion pictures, is distributed, sold and offered to the public within the corporate limits of the City of Paris; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is of the opinion that pornographic materials are detrimental to the moral fiber of the youth of the City of Paris; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is of the opinion that the best way to discourage dissemination of porno- graphy is for the public in general, and the youth in particu- lar, to refuse to purchase the same; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is of the opinion that the parents and other persons who have influence upon the youth of our City have a duty and obligation to dis- courage the purchase of pornography by our youth; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is of the opinion that the dissemination of pornography can be deterred by the help and cooperation of retail merchants, distributors and motion picture operators, if they will refrain from sell- ing, distributing or showing known pornographic literature or pornographic motion pictures; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RFSOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, That parents and persons in position of influence upon the youth of the City of Paris are requested to discourage the purchase and patronization of pornographic literature and pornographic motion pictures by said youth, and, further, that the retail merchants, distributors and motion picture operators are requested to refrain from making available to the youth of the City of Paris known pornographic literature and motion pictures.
