The following members were present: Jackie
Alsobrook, Sarah Gambill, Anna Davis, Fran Neeley, John Howison.
Absent were Walter Williams, Nancee Salzman, Curtis Fendley, Rogene
Patterson, and Callie Thompson, Friends President. Betty stated that the current budget
needed to be spent or encumbered by September 30, 2001. Buying books
was a priority, as $50,000 still needed to be spent in that area. Some chairs
had been ordered, irreparable videos were being replaced, and some
shelving money needed to be spent.

The July Statistical Report showed that an increase in circulation of
10.8% occurred in July from last year at the same time. Electronic
reference was up and Interlibrary Loan was down. Volunteer hours were
up by 3.7% and memorial donations were up.

Children's Services did not have a float in the 4th of July parade. Seven
programs were presented to school age children, with 118 children
attending and 23 adults. Four programs were presented to preschool age
children with 146 children attending and 60 adults.

In the Adult Outreach program, 1,124 books and 230 audio books were
circulated. Two reading presentations programs were given at Heritage
Care and Sterling House. The Mobile Library Summer Reading Service
served a total of 1,406 children and 418 adults for the summer.
