Reinforce: To strengthen or fortify existing building components by adding <br /> supplementary structural membem, i.e. beams, plates, anchors, rods, etc. <br /> Reinforcement in exposed areas muse be executed so as to effect the least <br /> aesthetic intrusion possible as specified or approved by the Architect. <br /> <br /> V. Renovate: To alter a building or its components to allow for continued functional <br /> use. <br /> <br /> W. Repair, Repair in Kind: To remedy loss, damage or decay of original or existing <br /> building material(s) and components to structurally sound and aesthetically <br /> authentic condition by in kind mending, patching, splicing, or other methods as <br /> insm~cted by the Architect. <br /> <br /> X. Replace, Replace in Kind: To remedy loss, damage or decay of original or existing <br /> building material(s) and components by provision of in kind replicas of original <br /> materials and/or components. <br /> <br /> Y. Replica, Replicate in Kind, Replication: A newly fabricated in-kind copy. of a <br /> damaged building material or components which cannot be restored by repam <br /> <br /> Z. Restore, restoration: The act or process of accurately recreating the original <br /> historic form and details of a building, its material(s) or components by repair, <br /> reconstmction and/or replication so as to preserve or recreate its appearance and <br /> function as it appeared at a particular period of time. Restoration may include the <br /> removal of later work or the replacement of missing earlier work, <br /> <br /> AA. Salvage: To remove a material or object without any damage to the material or object to <br /> allow for storage and future reassembly or reuse. <br /> <br /> BB. Shown: Shown on drawings by notes, graphics or schedules, or written onto other <br /> portions of Contract Documents. Terms such as "indicated", "noted", "scheduled" <br /> and "specified" have same meaning as "shown", and are used to assist the reader in <br /> locating particular information. <br /> <br /> CC. Stabilization, or Stabilize: the active process of applying measures designed to re- <br /> establish a weather-resistant enclosure and the su'uctural stability of an unsafe or <br /> deteriorated property while maintaining the. essential form as it exists at present or as <br /> restored to its historical appearance. <br /> <br /> DD. Standards and Regulations: <br /> <br /> 1. industry Standards: Applicable standards of construction industry have <br /> same force and effect on performance of the work as if copied directly <br /> into Contract Documents or bound and published therewith. Standards <br /> referenced in Contxact Documents or in governing regulations have <br /> precedence over non-referenced standards, insofar as different standards <br /> may contain overlapping or conflicting requirements. Comply with <br /> standards in effect as of date of Contract Documents, unless otherwise <br /> <br /> EE.
