Use exposed fasteners of type indicated or, if not <br /> indicated, Phillips flat-head (countersunk) screws or bolts. <br /> <br /> H. Provide insulation of metals from contact with masonry and different metals from <br /> contact with each other where necessary to prevent corrosion. Separate metal <br /> surfaces in contact with non compatible or heavy duty coat of alkali-resistant <br /> bituminous paint on the contact surfaces. <br /> <br /> I. Bolting: Use proper size bolts and draw nuts tight. <br /> <br /> J. Accuracy of Work: Fabricate and erect all work square, plumb, straight and tree. <br /> Provide ail supporting and anchoring means as required for proper installation. <br /> <br /> K. Galvanizing: Provide a zinc coating for those items indicated or specified to be <br /> gaivanized, as follows: <br /> <br /> 1. ASTM A153 for gaivanizing iron and steel hardware. <br /> 2. ASTM 123 for gaivanizing rolled, pressed, and forged steel shapes, plates, bars <br /> and strip 1\8 inch thick and heavier. <br /> 3. ASTM A386 for gaivanizing assembled steel products. <br /> <br /> L. Fabricate joints which will be exposed to weather in a manner to exclude water or <br /> provide weep holes where water may accumulate. <br /> <br /> M. Shop Painting: <br /> <br /> 1. Cleaning: Before painting, thoroughly clean surfaces of all grease, mst, <br /> welding droppings and loose mill scaie by sandblasting, wire-brushing, <br /> solvents or other means as approved by Architect. After erection, <br /> wire-brush welded or abraded areas. <br /> <br /> 2. Priming: Chemically etch and shop prime surfaces of metal fabrication, except <br /> those indicated to be embedded in concrete. Prime all ferrous metal <br /> work with one full coat of Rust-Oleum g960 zinc chromate primer or <br /> Themec #99 red metal primer. Clean gaivanized mew surfaces as <br /> recommended by paint manufacturer and apply one (1) coat of <br /> Rust-Oleum Galvinoleum or ZRC to ail welded or abraded areas. <br /> <br /> N. Shop Assembly: Pre-assemble items in shop to greatest extent possible to <br /> minimize field splicing and assembly. Disassemble units only as necessary for <br /> shipping and handling. <br /> <br />2.03 ROUGH HARDWARE <br /> <br />A. Furnish bent or custom fabricated bolts, plates, anchors, hangers, dowels, and other <br />miscellaneous steel and iron shapes exceeding 16 gauge thickness as required for framing <br />and supporting rough carpentry and for anchoring or securing rough carpentry to <br />concrete or other structures. Straight bolts and other stock rough hardware items are <br />specified in ROUGH CARPENTRY Section. <br /> <br /> 1. Fabricate items of sizes, shapes and dimensions required. Furnish malleable- <br /> iron washers for heads and nuts which bear on wood sU'uctural <br /> connections; elsewhere, furnish steel washers. <br /> <br /> Section 05500 <br /> Page 4-5 <br /> <br /> <br />
