Lap supplementary framing members from opposite sides of beams, g'mters or partitions <br /> not less than 4" or securely tie opposing members together. Provide solid <br /> blocking (2" thick by depth of joist) over supports, <br /> <br /> C. Under jamb studs at openings, provide supplementary solid blocking between joists. <br /> <br /> D. Provide supplementm3, bridging between joists where nominal depth-to thickness ratio <br /> exceeds 4, at intervals of 8' or as shown on drawings. Use bevel cut 1" x 4" or 2"x 3" <br /> wood bracing, double-crossed and nailed both ends to joists, or use solid wood <br /> bridging 2" thick by depth of joist, end nailed to joist. <br /> <br />3.6 EXISTING RAFrER AND CEILING JOIST FRAMING REINFORCEMENT: <br /> A. Ce'fling Joists: Repair and/or reinforce as shown on Drawings. <br /> <br /> B. Rafters: Repair, replace and/or reinforce as shown on Drawings. Provide <br /> supplementary members in sizes and spacing shown or as required for in kind <br /> replacement. Notch supplementary members to fit exterior wall plates and toe nail or <br /> use special metal framing anchors. For supplementary members, double rafters to <br /> form headers and trimmers at openings in roof framing (if any), and support with <br /> metal hangers. Where supplementary rafters abut at ridge, place directly opposite <br /> each other and nail to ridge member or use metal ridge hangers. Replace or reinforce <br /> existing rafter connections as shown on drawings. <br /> <br /> C. Repair, replace or reinforce roof framing as shown on Drawings. <br /> <br /> D. Provide supplementary and required fasteners for special framing as shown for eav~ <br /> overhangs, and special conditions, if any. <br /> <br />3.7 EXISTING TIMBER FRAMING REINFORCEMENT: <br /> <br /> A. Repair, replace in kind and/or supplement existing wood beams, posts, girders and other <br /> heavy timber members as shown on Drawings or as directed by Architect. lastall <br /> supplementary and replacemem members with crown edge up and provide not less than <br /> 4" bearing on supports. Provide continuous members unless shown; fie together over <br /> supports if not continuous. <br /> <br /> B. Repair, replace in kind and/or supplement existing wood posts and columns with <br /> concealed metal anchoring and attachment devices as shown on Drawings or as directed <br /> by Architect. <br /> <br />3.9 INSTALLATION OF PLYWOOD: <br /> <br /> A. General: Comply with applicable recommendations contained in Form No. E 304, "APA <br /> Design/Construction Guide Residential & Commercial", for types of plywood <br /> products end applications indicated. <br /> <br /> B.
